For over 20 years, fiddle player, dancer and multi-instrumentalist, Davydd McDonald has developed a passion for traditional music and dance. Hailing from Brisbane, Australia, you’ll regularly find him at the local sessions in Brisbane, playing on-stage with local bands, teaching workshops at festivals & music camps across Australia, or wherever the tunes can be found.  

 

An avid collector and educator of traditional music, he has specialised in music styles from Scotland and Appalachia, but his true love of the fiddle styles of Ireland takes centre-stage. With influences from bands such as Dervish, Danu, Altan, The Bothy Band and Lunasa, and fiddle players such as Liz Doherty, Liz Carroll, Fergal Scahill and Cathal Hayden, Davydd has developed a style of playing focussed on groove and the accompaniment of traditional dancing.
